Also, this

A status update I made March 1 2011, perfectly sums up my sentiments in the previous post:

"HAPPY MARCH EVERYONE! Goodbye, goodbye winter. Hello to early sunrises and epic sunsets. Hello to spring flowers, less snow, more sun. Take off your down jackets, throw off your boots and effing rejoice! For March is the second best month next to Aprilmayjune!!!!!!!!! YAY SPRING IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER!!"

**Apparently my favorite month is Aprilmayjune. I forgot the June part haha.

Recap

Well, I am pretty close to getting four posts in March. Oh well! Happy April anyway!

March was a great month, but it absolutely flew by. I mainly worked my tail off on my thesis, aaaaaand that's about it. Seriously, it seems that it's all that I've done. But I'm proud of myself for working so hard, even though it still seems like it's never going to end. I've already pushed back the date of my defense to "sometime in June", but that depends on my committee's individual schedules. And they're not giving me much information so far. Hmmmm...let the nagging begin!

April 1 not only designates the end of March, but the end of the first quarter of the year. So, I thought I'd re-examine my resolutions and see what I've done, and what I need to do!

  • Lost more weight: Ha. and HA. That's a laugh. I was doing so well during the fall because of all that marathon training, and then spring semester started up and I'm lucky if I work out once a week. And I really need to work out. I'm going to Hawaii in about a month and I must be beach ready by then. I hope to make it to the gym ~3 times a week from now on. Friday afternoons are spent hiking with my class, and Tommy and I try to do something (hike/bike/run) at least once a weekend. So if I can make it to the gym three times a week on top of those other two things, I should be in good shape (both literally and figuratively).
  • Write this ish at least once a week: It's not been tooooo bad. Last month was a little slow. And when I did post it was short. But it's better than nothing! I think I can keep that up for another three months.
  • Cook more: I've been killing the shit out of this one. Unfortunately I never post about it, so you'll just have to take my word for it, but it's true! I've really started to become a better cook too! I just cannot wait until we have our own kitchen with our own nice things. It's really hard to plan for the week because we're constantly switching houses. But oh well. I'm still keeping on top of it and it's been fun.
Other than that, like I said things are going great. It's been sooooo nice out. Tommy and I went on our first long bike ride last weekend, and yesterday we took the dog up Millcreek Canyon for a hike. It's snowing right now, unfortunately, but that's why I'm at school! Getting stuff done!

Happy April to you all (yes, I know I already said that, but April 1 ALSO marks the beginning of my favorite season: Aprilmay. It's that time of year when the weather is absolutely perf. School is finishing up [though, I guess not really for me anymore since I'm no longer taking classes....]. Skies are blue. Birds are chirping. I just love Aprilmay!!!!!)

Some thoughts

Well wedding colors are picked out...that's exciting! We picked them loosly based on a wildflower bouquet we found in a magazine. Think deep purples, sky blues, hints of pink, marigold and green.

We also went dress shopping and may have accidentally found my dress (whattt????) Yeah no shit. It's cray cray fo shizzle. My mom and I went impromptu shopping and the second dress I tried we both really liked. And it was hella cheap. And I'm not super committed to getting the perfect dress. Like, really omg?!?!?! Yes, I am that kind of bride. If it looks good and the price is right....I don't know what's stopping us!

Next news. Thesis. And real world. And job searching annnnnd yeah. I'm already snoring too. And if I think about it too long I start eating my hair and sprouting pimples like it's my JOB people. UGH I should have gone into petroleum. Or pre med. Or gold digging or or or

KELLY STOP IT, says my split personality. GET YOURSELF TOGETHER WOMAN AND TALK ABOUT THAT MARATHON YOU AND YOUR BOYFRIEND-I MEAN FIANCE ARE PLANNING. JESUS. CHRIST.

Ok, you're right split personally (NO SHIT). Today I figured out that Tommy and I are 23 weeks away from the Salt Lake City Half Marathon. WOOOOO. But we're following a 12 week training program, so we're taking it slooooooooow. We're doing each week twice through week 6. Then weeks 7 through 10 three times in a row, and then 11 and 12 as normal (since they're cool down weeks). Hopefully by the time the actual race comes around we'll be soooo ready for that shizzle. Unfortunately Tommy's legs and feet hurt about every other run he goes on so that's kind of a downer.

Also, winter is here and I hate it butttttt trying to be bright and sunny in my personality to make up for it (YEAH FUCKING RIGHT).

Happy Birthday Danielle!

So today was my second foray* into the world of crafts. My first started on Monday and ended yesterday, but I don't have my camera so you'll find out soon enough.

*To tell you the truth, I make birthday cards all the time--it's really the only type of craft that I consistently do...but it is a craft, and it's my second craft since starting the list, so it totally counts.

My office-mate and fellow structural geologist (not to mention fellow female, there were only two of us that started this year) is turning twenty....six? I think? On Saturday. But this being Thanksgiving weekend, I gave her her card today. That is, if she shows up today with the blizzard conditions and all.

Soooo here's the card:

Outside of card
Inside of card (I forgot to flip the photo, but you get the idea)
One more outside shot demonstrating the folding capabilities.

So there you go! Happy birthday Danielle!!!

PS: today I am thankful for my boyfriend. I'm sure it will be one of many times I am thankful for him. This morning I was running late and he cleaned off my car and got it heated up. Then he dropped me off at school so I wouldn't be late and parked the car out in bum fuck and walked in. And it was like, less than 20 degrees this morning. He's the best!

Evolution and thoughts about fall

How did we evolve to love? It's so god damn stupid. Stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid.

Ok, maybe I'm exaggerating [slightly].

Last night I met a girl for the first time. She happened to be going through some boy troubles. Why? Why does it happen? I think it mostly boils down to lack of clarity in these situations. If everyone just said exactly how they felt, life would be better, I'm sure of it.

On that note, having troubles with some boy of my own. The problem is that none of it's tangible yet. But lately I'm just getting the vibe he's starting to care less and less. Maybe he's just busy, right? Maybe not....

Love is stupid, and it serves no evolutionary purpose and I just wish there was no such thing.

By the way, it's legitimately cold now. Fuck you, Boston, fuck you.
